How to Remove Stains From Polished Nails

Polished nails are a beauty and fashion statement. Well-groomed hands are a sign of good personal hygiene. Nails can become stained from nail polish. This is especially true when using darker polish colors. They can leave a yellow stain. This stain is not harmful to your nails and will wear off over time. It can be hidden by applying new nail polish over the stain. You can also use home treatments to remove the stain left behind from nail polish.

Instructions:

    • 1
Make a paste of 1 tbsp. of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 2 1/2 tbsp. of baking soda. Lemon juice can be used in place of the hydrogen peroxide.
    • 2
Coat the end of a cotton swab with the paste and apply it to all the nails on one hand. Cover the entire nail and press a small amount under each nail tip.
    • 3
Let the paste sit for three minutes.
    • 4
      Rinse with warm water.
    • 5
Repeat the treatment on the second hand.
    • 6
Maintain stain-free nails by using this treatment every six to eight weeks.

    Dental Cleaner:

    • 1
Pour denture cleaner into a bowl.
    • 2
Place your fingertips into the bowl and let them soak in the denture cleaner for five minutes.
    • 3
      Rinse with warm water.

Tips & Warnings:

  • Brighten your nails by coloring under the tips with a nail-whitening pencil.
  • Avoid nail polish stains by applying a clear base coat prior to applying a colored nail polish.
